5 Ways the Merit Care Clinic Fuels Summer Wellness

We get it—summer is busy. The days are longer, which means we pack more into our to-do lists; the kids are home from school; and family is coming to visit. It’s hard to make wellness a priority. That’s where our on-site Merit Care Clinic comes in. Through several lifestyle programs and health opportunities, the professionals at our Merit Salt Lake clinic offer employees and their families convenient, affordable, individualized care all summer long. Here’s how.

Employees and their families can receive checkups, make an appointment for a sick visit, discuss preventative health with clinicians, fill prescriptions, and more.

Making an appointment for a primary care visit is easy, and employees are often seen the same day or within 48 hours.

Skin Cancer Checks

Early detection is key. Annual professional skin exams are recommended (and more often if you’re at a higher risk of skin cancer). The Merit Care Clinic offers skin exams, performed by a dermatologist, the fourth Wednesday of every month.

Nutrition Counseling

Common topics covered include weight loss, maintaining a healthy diet, disease prevention, diabetes counseling, and more.

In addition to nutrition counseling, Merit will be holding a Food is Medicine event in the Bean and Main buildings on July 16. Led by the Wellness Team—Merit’s Wellness Coordinator, Dietitian, and Director of Garden Engagement & Employee Well-Being—the event will provide employees with healthy food samples along with recipes they can try at home.

Help with the Summertime Blues

The shift to warmer weather affects everyone differently. If employees or family members are experiencing depression, or any other mental health concerns, the Merit Care Clinic is here to help with counseling services.
